CCC’s repertoire includes programs broadcast on over-the-air television signals that are retransmitted in Canada as distant signals. Distant signals are defined by Regulation in Canada. In general terms, distant signals are over-the-air signals that are retransmitted (for example by cable and satellite companies) to subscribers beyond the normal reception area of the over-the-air signal.  Programs not within CCC repertoire include the following:

  • programs certified as 100% "Canadian content" by either the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) or CAVCO (the Canadian Audio Visual Certification Office);

  • major league sports events (NHL, NFL, CFL, NBA, MLB);

  • programs that are produced predominantly outside the U.S. by a person who is not a U.S. national or a member of the MPAA or MPA;

  • programs owned by broadcasters and represented by another retransmission collective;

  • infomercials.

Retransmission royalties for content not represented by CCC are administered by other retransmission collectives.
